Men's Tennis Picks Up Second Straight 5-4 Win - This Time Downing Ohio Dominican

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Northwood University men's tennis team earned its second straight 5-4 win Friday night (February 27), this time earning a hard-fought win over Ohio Dominican.

Northwood improves to 3-0 overall, 2-0 in the GLIAC. ODU falls to 2-2 overall, 0-1 in the GLIAC.

The Panthers got off to a good start in doubles, taking a 2-1 lead over Northwood. NU's lone win in doubles came at the No. 3 slot, thanks to an 8-3 win by Felipe Crema Batistella and Salikh Gilmutdinov.

It was the bottom of the Northwood lineup that came up big for the Timberwolves. NU earned wins at the bottom four positions, three of which came in straight sets. Austin Woody, Konstantin Zhukov and Batistella all earned easy wins, dropping a total of just six games.

With the overall score tied 4-4, the team result came down to the No. 6 singles match between Northwood's Tanini Kader and Gerardo Perez of ODU. Perez took the first set 7-5, but Kader responded to earn the win. Kader won the final two sets 6-1, 6-4 to give the Timberwolves the win.

Northwood will host a non-conference match against Indianapolis Sunday morning (March 1). First serve is set for 9 a.m.
