Men's Tennis Earns 6-3 Win Over St Cloud State
KISSIMMEE, FLA. – The Northwood University men's tennis team wrapped up their spring trip to Florida with a 6-3 neutral site win over Saint Cloud State Saturday afternoon (March 14).
Northwood is now 7-2 on the season. St. Cloud State falls to 7-4.
The Huskies took a 2-1 lead after doubles, thanks to winning a pair of close matches. Northwood earned an 8-2 win at the No. 2 position thanks to the team of Konstantin Zhukov/Henrik Hellbe. SCSU then picked up an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles before taking the No. 3 match by a score of 9-8.
Northwood was the better team in singles, as the Timberwolves won five of the six matches in straight sets. Salikh Gilmutdinov , Austin Woody, Zhukov, Felipe Crema Bastistella and Tanini Kader all picked up wins in singles.
Zhukov led the way for Northwood on the day, picking up a pair of wins.
Northwood will return to action March 28 in a home match versus Findlay. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
