Tennis Teams Earn Bids To The NCAA Tournament
MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University men's and women's tennis teams have each earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament, which was announced Tuesday night (April 28).
The women's team (17-2) is the No. 4 seed in the Midwest Region. They will take on No. 5 seed Grand Valley State (22-6) in the opening round of the event. That match will take place at Wayne State Saturday (May 2) at 10 a.m. The winner of the NU/GVSU match will face top-seeded Wayne State (24-2) in the second round Sunday (May 3) at 1 p.m.
On the men's side, Northwood (15-4) is the No. 2 seed and will host the opening two rounds of the tournament. The Timberwolves will take on No. 7 seed Grand Valley State (16-5) in the first round, which will take place Saturday (May 2) at 3 p.m. The winner of that match will take on either No. 3 seed Indianapolis (14-4) or No. 6 seed Missouri-St. Louis (11-8). The UINDY/UMSL match will take Saturday at Noon, while the second round match will be Sunday (May 3) at Noon.
Winners of these groups will advance to the NCAA Round of 16 in Surprise, Arizona May 13-16.
