Men's Track & Field Debuts At No. 25 In Initial USTFCCCA Ratings

NEW ORLEANS, LA. - Northwood men's track & field team premiered at No. 25 in the initial week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Men's Indoor Track & Field Ratings released Tuesday (January 24). Northwood ranks eighth in the Midwest region among qualifying teams.

No. 25 Northwood debuted as one of four Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) teams to appear in the top 25. No. 12 Tiffin, No. 16 Findlay, and No. 24 Walsh round out the G-MAC schools in the top 25. Northwood debuted with 36.07 points behind five athletes with top 25 NCAA finishes in their respective events this season. 

Dillan Haviland and Josh Jones lead Northwood's mid-distance runners. Early this season, the two have national marks in the 800m and mile events. Haviland currently ranks eighth in the mile (4:07.33) and eighth in the 800m (1:51.86), while Jones is sixth in the 800m (1:51.75) and is 25th in the mile (4:10.09).

For Northwood throws, 2022 Indoor All-American Nathan Powers sits at eighth (19.67m) in all DII weight throw marks this season. His teammate, Sebastian Tesch, has exploded onto the scene as well. Tesch set a new weight throw personal record (PR) at 18.84m which is good enough for 13th in DII this season.

In the shot put, Will Nemecek holds the 22nd-best DII toss this season at 16.69m.

Northwood travels to SVSU to compete at the Jet's Pizza Invitational this Friday (January 27).
