Cross Country Teams Compete At The Greater Louisville Classic

The Northwood University cross country teams took part in the Greater Louisville Classic Saturday (October 5).

One of the largest meets in the nation on Saturday, the event featured athletes from all levels across three different collegiate races. 

The men's team turned in some strong performances in the Blue Race, which was run as an 8K.  Leading the way for the Timberwolves was Silas Dekalita (Clio, Mich.). He clocked a 25:53.09 to place 10th overall.  Close behind Dekalita was Marcus Rogers (Howell, Mich./Pinckney), who finished 13th with a time of 25:56.88. A total of 289 competitors took part in the blue race.

On the women's side Danielle Miller (Clinton Twp., Mich./Fraser) continued her strong senior season.  She was Northwood's top finisher for the third straight event, placing fifth overall in the blue race with a time of 18:19.78 over the 5K course. Kelsey Burgess (Byron Center, Mich./Grand Rapids South Christian) clocked a 19:04.90 to place 26th. There were 329 competitors in the women's blue race.

Northwood also had selected members take part in the men's silver race. Joe Jones was Northwood's top finisher, placing 69th with a time of 28:19.25 to finish 69th out of 320 runners.  

The Timberwolves will compete at the Michigan Intercollegiate Friday (October 11).
