Brian Patrick Earns Bid To NCAA Cross Country Championships

NCAA QUALIFIERS

MIDLAND, MICH. - The NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships Committee has announced sophomore Brian Patrick as an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships in December, becoming just the second NCAA qualifier in school history.

Patrick earned a 12th place finish at the Midwest Regional Championships, registering a time of 32:10.8 for a 74-second personal best in the 10 and now ranks fourth all-time in NU history. The All-Region performer led the Northwood men's cross country team to a ninth place team finish - their highest team finish at the regional meet since the 2005 team placed eighth.

He is now the second NCAA qualifier in school history for cross country and the first since Jon Hodge in 2005. Hodge went on to finish 59th overall in 31:04.1 at the NCAA Championships. That time still remains the fastest 10k time in school history.

Thirty-four teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top three, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 24 teams. Ten additional teams were selected at-large. A minimum of 24 additional individuals were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process. The list of advancing teams and individuals is outlined below.

The NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships will be held December 1 at the Bob O'Conner Golf Course Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, PA. Clarion University of Pennsylvania, Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania and Sports PITTSBURGH will serve as hosts. The men's race will start at 11 a.m. Eastern.
