The Northwood University softball team was eliminated from the GLIAC Tournament with a pair of losses Friday (May 3(. The Timberwolves opened the event with a 3-1 loss to Ohio Dominican before falling to Findlay 2-1.
Northwood falls to 28-20 with the losses.
The Timberwolves opened the scoring in the first inning on a two-out single by Rachel Hammer (Commerce, Mich./Lakeland) that plated Paige Shields (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Regina). The score remained 1-0 until the fourth inning when ODU scored a pair of two-out runs. The Panthers expanded their lead to 3-1 in the seventh inning. The Timberwolves offense did not get much going in the contest, finishing with just three singles.
Findlay got off to a fast start in game two, thanks to the first five batters of the game reaching. The Oilers scored a pair of runs in the inning to take an early 2-0 lead. Northwood fought back to get within one run in the fourth on a two-out single by Lindsay Obremski (Williamsburg, Va./Dubois Area). But that would be the last of the Northwood offense, as the Timberwolves were held scoreless the rest of the way. Stacey Klonowski (Canton, Mich./Plymouth) had a pair of infield singles to lead the Northwood offense. Sebald overcame a rough start to the game to allow two runs in seven innings of work.
