RECAP: Softball takes two against Purdue Northwest at home on Tuesday afternoon (April 27), winning game one 8-4 and game two 3-1.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

  • PNW got on the board first in the top of the second with two runs.
  • Northwood responded right away in the bottom of the second. Jayna Hance got the scoring started with a two-run double. Maddie Coulter and Lauren Castellon both added RBI singles in the inning to give NU the 4-2 lead.
  • An RBI single by Grace Dutoi scored Coulter in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 5-2.
  • Purdue Northwest plated one run in the top of the fifth to cut into the NU lead, making the score 5-3.
  • NU plated three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, thanks to Lauren Castellon. Her three-run double to left center extended the Northwood lead to 8-3.
  • The Pride added one run in the top of the seventh to make the final score 8-4.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

  • Dutoi got the Timberwolf offense started in the second game in the bottom of the first. An RBI single drove home Coulter for the early 1-0 NU lead.
  • Northwood added two runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. RBI doubles by Delanie Grundman and Samantha Slick put the Timberwolves up 3-0.
  • The Pride got a one on the board in the top of the sixth inning, but that proved to be the final run  of the contest.
