RECAP: Northwood softball opened the 2026 season Friday (Feb. 13) at the North Georgia Classic, dropping two contests against Barry (Fla.), 10-1, and No. 8 North Georgia, 10-3.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Barry struck first in the second inning with a two-run double to take a 2-0 lead.
- Northwood answered in the third. Gage Lambert singled to start the rally and later scored after Abby Robinson reached and Delanie Gale delivered an RBI single to right center, trimming the deficit to 2-1.
- The Buccaneers responded in the bottom half of the third with back-to-back solo home runs to extend the lead to 4-1.
- Barry added an unearned run in the fifth before breaking the game open in the sixth with five runs, including a two-run homer, to secure the 10-1 run-rule victory.

- North Georgia opened the scoring in the second inning with a two-RBI triple followed by an RBI single to take a 3-0 lead.
- The Nighthawks added five runs in the third inning. Four Northwood errors in the frame extended the advantage to 8-0.
- Northwood responded in the fifth. Lambert doubled to start the inning and scored on an RBI single from Brittany Steimel. The Timberwolves added two more runs in the frame via one scoring on a wild pitch and another crossing after Delanie Gale reached on an error, cutting the deficit to 8-3.
- North Georgia answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth to push the final to 10-3.
