Softball Falls Twice In Matchups With Findlay

RECORDS: Northwood (10-16, 4-6 G-MAC), Findlay (22-8, 8-2 G-MAC)
LOCATION: Anderson Field – Findlay, Ohio
RECAP: Northwood softball finished their trip to Northwest Ohio with a doubleheader at Findlay on Friday, April 3. They ended up dropping both games to the Oilers, 7-3 and 4-2.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Findlay opened the scoring in the third, capitalizing on a Northwood error following an infield single to plate an unearned run.
- The Oilers broke it open in the fourth, using a run-scoring double, a bunt single that turned into an RBI after a throwing error, and a two-run home run to extend the lead to 5-0.
- Northwood answered in the fifth with a sacrifice fly from Delanie Gale and an RBI single through the left side by Ashley Ziel to cut the deficit to 5-2.
- The Oilers didn't take long to respond, sending the first pitch of the bottom of the fifth over the center field fence, 6-2 UF.
- Moving to the sixth, Ashlyn Lundquist kept Northwood in it with a lead-off double down the left field line. She would later come around to score on a passed ball, cutting the lead to three, 6-3 UF.
- The back-and-forth exchange of offense continued in the bottom of the sixth. Findlay's walk came around to score on a two-out double to left, 7-3 UF. They would hold on in the top of the seventh for the 7-3 win.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- Findlay struck early in the first with a solo home run before a two-run double pushed the lead to 3-0.
- Northwood was held scoreless through the first five innings. In the sixth, Brittany Steimel delivered a two-RBI single down the right-field line, scoring Delanie Gale and Brinley Eckerman to cut the deficit to 3-2.
- Findlay added an insurance run on a sacrifice fly by Alexys Antal in the bottom of the sixth before holding Northwood at bay for the final 4-2.

NORTHWOOD NOTES AND CAREER MARKS TRACKER
- Several Timberwolves continue to climb the Northwood softball record books during the 2026 season. With her double in the sixth inning, Delanie Gale became Northwood's all-time leader in career doubles with 48, surpassing Northwood Athletics Hall of Famer, Stacey Klonowski (47, 2011–14).
