RECAP: Northwood softball sees its season come to an end after going 1-1 on day two of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament, defeating Ursuline 6-0 before dropping a tough 8-7 contest to Tiffin Thursday (April 30).

GAME HIGHLIGHTS - URSULINE

  • Northwood got the scoring going in the bottom of the second inning on a two-run single by Brinley Eckerman.
  • Eckerman earned a third RBI in the game on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth.
  • In the fifth inning, Gage Lambert made the score 4-0 on an RBI single.
  • Chloe Cooper rounded out the scoring with a two-run double in the fifth that the score 6-0.
  • Kamden Binney earned the shutout in the circle with a strong performance, allowing just three singles and no walks in seven innings. She struck out four in her 14th win of the season.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS - TIFFIN

  • Tiffin got off to a fast start in the game, using a pair of bases loaded walks and a two-out, two-run single to go up 4-0 after one.
  • The Dragons scored another run in the bottom of the fourth to lead 5-0.
  • Northwood stormed back in the top of the fifth, starting with a bases loaded walk to Kowalski.
  • Ashlyn Lundquist followed with a two-run single to get within two at 5-3.
  • Delaney Belding came through with a clutch two-out, pinch-hit single that plated a pair and tied the score 5-5.
  • Tiffin came right back with two runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 7-5 heading to the sixth.
  • The Timberwolves came right back with a run in the sixth on an RBI double for Lundquist to get Northwood within one at 7-6.
  • Trailing by one in the final inning, Delanie Gale came through with a historic double in the clutch to tie the score. That was her 19th double of the season, tying the program record for doubles in a season with Grace Dutoi (2019).
  • Tiffin came back one more time, earning the walk-off win on an error to give the Dragons the dramatic victory.
  • Misses opportunities cost Northwood in the game, as the Timberwolves left 12 runners on base in the contest.
