Track & Field Kicks Off Outdoor Season At Lee Invitational

OVERVIEW – LEE INVITATIONAL

LOCATION: Lee University – Cleveland, Tenn.

RECAP: Northwood men's and women's track & field kicked off their spring outdoor season in the Volunteer state Friday and Saturday (March 21-22) at Lee University's Lee Invitational.

INSIDE THE MEET

FOR THE MEN

  • Matheu Morrison took the win in the 110m hurdles, finishing in 14.48, a Lee Invitational record. His teammate, Owen Hager, also finished sixth, breaking the line at 15.09 in his first outdoor action as a Timberwolf.
  • Preston Earl (1:53.28) and Logan Roka (1:54.71) set new personal records in the men's 800m heats. Earl finished seventh, and Roka ninth during the competition.
  • Earl also took fourth in the men's 1500m, finishing in 3:52.87, just off his PR.
  • Jordan Taiwo earned the win, jumping up to third all-time for the men's pole vault. He cleared 4.20m, the best for a Northwood athlete since 2012 (Tyler Zdybel).
  • Lucas Oberle placed fourth in the men's 3000m steeplechase. He finished in 9:35.88.

FOR THE WOMEN

  • Kelsey Hansen took wins in two events. She won the women's hammer throw with a mark of 47.47m and the shot put with a toss of 13.61m, a Lee Invitational record.
  • Ariel Warner started outdoors, where her indoor season finished up. She moved herself up the top performer's list for the 800m. Her 2:16.25 PR moves her into fourth all-time for a Timberwolf. Also, in the women's 800m, Kaylee Locke took ninth with a 2:20.81 PR, the tenth-best time in program history.
  • The school record holder for the 100m hurdles, Keiyera Johnson, took fifth in the event She finished in 15.67 to start her outdoor season.
  • Landry Koski took the 3000m steeplechase crown. Her mark of 11:48.16 is the third-best time in program history and the best of any female in the event since 2012 (Brittany Robichaud).
  • Breanna Hyde moved into a tie for fifth all-time for women's long jump. She leaped 5.27m, taking seventh during the meet.
