Track & Field Competes In East Lansing At MSU's Spartan Invitational

OVERVIEW – MSU SPARTAN INVITATIONAL

LOCATION: Michigan St. - East Lansing, Mich.

RECAP: Northwood men's and women's track & field opened their weekend at the Spartan Invitational on Friday (April 4). Northwood's sprints, distance, and middle-distance teams all competed at the event.

INSIDE THE MEET

FOR THE MEN

  • Preston Earl was Northwood's best placer in the 1500m seeded event. Earl clocked a 3:52.60 mark which is 51st in DII this season.
  • Andrew Braman led all Timberwolves in the 100m open. Braman ran a 10.98 to take third during the event. His teammate Arthur Powell IV placed just behind him in fourth with a time of 11.04.
  • Northwood had two PRs in the men's 200m open. Diogo Vaz (22.06) and Carson Daniel (22.62) took third and eighth with their new personal bests. 
  • Braman (22.68) and Powell IV (23.05) also toon ninth and tenth during the 200m open.
  • In the relays, Northwood's 4x100m team of Braman, Powell IV, Jamison Latham, and Vaz placed third at 41.82 during the relay open. This was a season-best mark for the Timberwolves.

 FOR THE WOMEN

  • For her second straight meet, Landry Koski improved her PR in the 3000m steeplechase. Koski cut off another thirteen seconds with her 11:35.37 finish, taking fifth. That mark is 49th in DII this season and improves her No. 3 mark in program history.
  • Kaylee Locke took home first in the women's 800m open unseeded event. Locke finished in  2:23.47, just off her personal best.
  • Breanna Hyde (5.02m) and Dannyka Johnson (4.92m) repped NU in the long jump, taking ninth and tenth overall.
