Numerous Athletes Turn In Top 10 Program Marks For Track & Field; Teams Compete At Davenport, Central Michigan, and Bucknell

OVERVIEW – CHIPPEWA CHALLENGE / DAVENPORT INVITE / BISON OUTDOOR CLASSIC

LOCATION: Central Mich. – Mt. Pleasant, Mich. / Davenport – Caledonia, Mich. / Bucknell – Lewisburg, Pa.

RECAP: Northwood men's and women's track & field sent split squads to three different meets this weekend (April 11-14). Members competed at Central Michigan, Davenport, and Bucknell.

INSIDE THE MEET – DAVENPORT INVITE

  • Breanna Hyde had herself a meet, winning both the women's long jump and triple jump events. Hyde cleared 10.43m PR on the triple jump and 5.41m PR on the long jump. Hyde's marks are now fourth (triple) all-time and fifth (long) all-time for the jumps in NU history.
  • Dannyka Johnson also set a new PR in the long jump, clearing 5.24, the seventh-best mark in program history.
  • Jordan Taiwo scored 5319 and teammate Kyle Roeters scored 5113 in the men's decathlon competition. Taiwo's mark placed him seventh and Roeters' ninth. Taiwo won the event's shot put (12.03m) and pole vault (3.95m) competitions. Roeters' score is the fourth best in program history.
  • Michael Cook (55.14) and Matheu Morrison (55.63) led NU in the 400m hurdles, placing first and second. Cook's mark was a new PR and improved him to seventh in program history for the event.
  • Morrison (14.57) and Owen Hager (14.75 PR) went one and two in the 110m hurdles. Hager's mark improves his No. 10 mark in program history.
  • Evan Hurley moved into fifth all-time for the men's high jump, clearing 1.87m during the meet.

 INSIDE THE MEET – CHIPPEWA CHALLENGE

  • Jenna Gaul's PR in the 400m hurdles gave her a third-place finish. Her 1:03.99 mark is the third-best in program history.
  • Kelsey Hansen set new PRs in the discus and the hammer throws. Hansen took home the win in the hammer throw, clearing 53.59m while placing second in the discus with a 44.30m mark. She now has the third-best hammer throw mark and second-best discus mark in program mark in program history.
  • Keiyera Johnson placed eighth in the 100m hurdles, finishing in 16.09.
  • Diogo Vaz led NU in the men's 100m dash, finishing in 11.09 against a  -2.2 mph wind, placing second. Vaz also took third in the 400m race, adding a PR of 48.33, the third-best time in NU history.
  • Omari Hairston (14.84m) and Nick Ball (14.26) went one and two in the men's shot put.
  • Tyler Marrogy moved into NU's top 10 for discus. His mark of 47.43 moved him into eighth as he brought home the win in the event.

INSIDE THE MEET – BISON OUTDOOR CLASSIC

  • Kaylee Locke took second in heat seven of the women's 400m heats. She finished in 59.14, the seventh-best mark in program history. Locke also improved her PR in the 800m, crossing the line in 2:19.79 and moving into ninth all-time for NU.
  • Ariel Warner finished the women's 1500m final in 4:48.09. This is the ninth-best mark in program history. She also excelled in the 3000m race taking fourth in 10:35.99, the fourth-best mark in NU history.
  •  Landry Koski improved her No. 3 mark in NU history for the 3000m steeplechase, finishing at 11:28.25.
  • In the men's 1500m, Caleb Palmreuter (3:54.23) and Preston Earl (3:55.96) led the Timberwolves taking 34th and 50th overall. Palmreuter is now tenth on NU's all-time 1500m list. The duo also placed sixth and seventh in the 3000m race, Earl (8:37.32) finishing just ahead of Palmreuter (8:39.54).
