Timberwolves Track & Field Competes at SVSU Classic

LOCATION: Saginaw Valley St. – University Center, Mich.
RECAP: Northwood men's and women's track & field competed Friday (January 16) at the SVSU Classic in University Center, Mich.
INSIDE THE MEET
FOR THE MEN
- Northwood advanced four runners from the 60-meter dash prelims, led by junior Chase Burston, who ran 6.97. Diogo Vaz, Arthur Powell IV, and Carson Daniel followed with times of 7.04, 7.04, and 7.14. In the finals, Vaz placed second overall with a 7.01, while Powell IV finished fourth in 7.07.
- In the 60m hurdles, sophomore Owen Hager qualified for finals with an 8.35 and later placed third overall, running 8.45. Freshman Noah Retford also qualified and finished fifth with an 8.48.
- Freshman Adam Johnson led Northwood in the 400m, finishing third with a time of 49.70. Burston followed in fifth (50.23), while Max Danley ran 51.81.
- In the 800m, sophomore Caleb Palmreuter placed fifth with a time of 1:53.14. Freshman Nolan Longuski finished 10th at 1:57.60.
- Northwood had eight entries in the men's mile, led by junior Matt Grindrod, who placed second with a time of 4:10.70, moving him into fifth on the Northwood men's indoor all-time top-10 performers list. Sam Smith placed sixth (4:16.33), followed by Nolan Nixon (4:23.54 – 11th), Keegan Masters (4:26.61 – 14th), Alex Meszaros (4:31.48 – 18th), Baraka Sila (4:32.55 – 20th), Caleb Robinson (4:33.35 – 23rd), and Jacob Wartenberg (4:49.21 – 40th).
- In the high jump, Jack Dewildt, Evan Hurley, and Denali Smith each cleared 1.84m, tying for sixth.
- Freshman Reagan Page cleared 4.20m to finish sixth in the pole vault. This is the fourth-best mark in program history.
- In the throws, sophomore Nick Ball placed seventh in the shot put (14.05m) and fifth in the weight throw (15.86m), while Lucas Schumaker followed with a sixth-place finish in the weight throw at 15.60m.
- The men's 4x400m relay team of Vaz, Burston, Daniel, and Danley placed fifth with a time of 3:25.82.
FOR THE WOMEN
- Sophomore Kaylee Locke won the 800m with a time of 2:22.40.
- Junior Keiyera Johnson finished fifth in the 200m at 26.98 and later placed fifth in the 60m hurdles finals, running 9.64 after qualifying with a 9.68.
- Junior Breanna Hyde finished second in the long jump with a mark of 5.28m. Hyde also ran 27.21 in the 200m to place sixth.
- In the 400m, junior Brooklyn Wolcott finished fourth with a time of 1:01.64, while Nava Sanocki placed eighth at 1:04.36.
- Northwood had three competitors in the women's mile, led by junior Kaylee Aultman, who ran 5:29.24 to finish 15th. Danica Aldrich (5:47.03 – 22nd) and Erica Klee (5:53.77 – 25th) followed.
- The Northwood 4x400m relay team of Johnson, Sanocki, Wolcott, and Locke placed fourth with a time of 4:06.98.
