Track & Field Collects Numerous Program Marks At SVSU’s Tune-Up And Michigan’s Silverston Invitational

OVERVIEW – SVSU TUNE-UP/ SILVERSTON INVITATIONAL

LOCATION: Saginaw Valley State – University Center, Mich. / Michigan – Ann Arbor, Mich.
RECAP: The Northwood University men's and women's track & field teams closed out their regular season at SVSU's Tune-Up and Silverston Invitational at Michigan ahead of next weekends Conference Championships at Ashland (February 27-28).

INSIDE THE MEET – SVSU TUNE-UP

FOR THE MEN

  • Northwood's top finishes on the track were highlighted by senior Sam Smith, who captured the men's 3000-meter title with a personal-best time of 8:30.66. Smith's mark is now eighth in program history.
  • Freshman Max Stoecker delivered another win for the Timberwolves, claiming first place in the shot put with a throw of 15.76m. The freshman now owns the No. 8 mark in program history.
  • In the weight throw, sophomore Lucus Schumaker placed third overall with a personal-best mark of 17.45m. He also moved into Northwood's all-time top-10 with the ninth-best mark.
  • On the track, sophomore Owen Hager continued his strong day with a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, running 8.28.
  • The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Jacob Messing, Caleb Walker, Adam Johnson, and Max Danley closed the meet with a runner-up finish, crossing in 3:20.29.
  • In the 800 meters, freshman Parker Strelecki added another top finish, placing fourth in 1:52.99 while setting a personal record and the No. 81 in DII.
  • Pole Vaulter Reagan Page improved his PR to 4.41m. His mark moves him up to No. 3 in program history with Northwood's highest mark since 2012.

FOR THE WOMEN

  • Northwood's top women's finish came in the middle distances, where junior Kaylee Locke placed third overall in the 800m with a time of 2:20.32.
  • In the field events, freshman Miyanna King highlighted the women's performances with a ninth-place finish in the weight throw, recording a mark of 13.07m.

INSIDE THE MEET – SILVERSTON INVITATIONAL

FOR THE MEN

  • Northwood earned a pair of top-four finishes in the high jump, led by freshman Joshua Calhoun, who placed third overall after clearing 1.90m. Fellow freshman Denali Smith followed closely in fourth with a clearance of 1.85m, while Jack DeWildt added a seventh-place finish at 1.80m.
  • In the 400 meters, sophomore Diogo Vaz paced the Timberwolves with an eighth-place finish, running 48.59. Junior Chase Burston followed in 49.48 to place 11th.

FOR THE WOMEN

  • Senior Keiyera Johnson highlighted the meet for Northwood with a strong showing in the 60-meter hurdles. Johnson qualified for finals with a season-best 9.36 before running a personal record and the second-best mark in program history at 9.12 to place sixth overall.
  • In the field events, junior Breanna Hyde recorded a third-place finish in the long jump, posting a mark of 5.48m. Dannyka Johnson placed eighth with a mark of 5.01m.
  • Freshman Angela Porter added another podium finish for the Timberwolves, placing third in the high jump after clearing 1.50m. Porter now owns the 7th-best mark in program history.
  • In the 800 meters, Brooklyn Wolcott crossed the line in 2:28.70 to finish 13th.
