Vier’s Historic Hurdles Mark Earns Weekly Conference Honors

MIDLAND, MICH. – Northwood track & field standout Blake Vier has been named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week (March 23) following a record-breaking performance to open the outdoor season.

Vier delivered a historic showing at the IWU Polar Bear Invitational (March 21), winning the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.73. His mark leads NCAA Division II and stands as the fastest time in the nation this season.

Vier's performance also reset Northwood's 46-year-old program record of 13.87, previously held by Lionel Campbell (1980), lowering the mark by 0.14 seconds. In addition, his time ranks No. 2 all-time in Great Midwest Athletic Conference history.

Track & Field continues its outdoor season next weekend as distance runners head to Washington University in St. Louis (March 26-27) and other competitors head to the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina St. (March 27-28).
