Track & Field Wraps Up Busy Weekend Of Competition Across The Country

LOCATION:  Texas - Austin, Texas / Texas St. - San Marcos, Texas / Michigan St. - East Lansing, Mich. / Oakland - Rochester, Mich.
RECAP: The Northwood University men's and women's track & field teams competed across four meets this weekend, beginning at the Texas Relays (April 1-4) before continuing action at the Bobcat Invitational (April 2-4), Spartan Invite (April 3), and Golden Grizzlies Invite (April 3-4).

INSIDE THE MEET – TEXAS RELAYS

FOR THE MEN

  • Northwood opened the weekend against elite competition at the Texas Relays, highlighted by Blake Vier, who posted a wind-aided 10.57 in the 100 meters—ranking No. 32 in NCAA Division II this season. Vier also added a time of 13.86 in the 110-meter hurdles prelims. This is the No. 8 mark in program history.
  • Omari Hairston turned in a strong performance in the shot put, placing fourth overall with a mark of 16.83m. Hairston moves up the program record books with the No. 6 throw in program history.
  • Sophomore Diogo Vaz recorded a 10.73 in the 100 meters, ranking No. 96 nationally.
  • Luke Eros competed in multiple events, posting marks of 58.04m in the hammer throw and 48.43m in the discus.

INSIDE THE MEET – BOBCAT INVITATIONAL

FOR THE MEN

  • Blake Vier highlighted the meet with a first-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 13.72. The performance reset his own program record and improved his nation-leading DII 110m hurdle mark.
  • In the field events, Luke Eros threw himself into Northwood's top-5 in program history, recording a throw of 59.73m in the hammer to place eighth overall. It is now the No. 4 hammer mark for NU all-time.
  • Sophomore Diogo Vaz posted a time of 48.04 PR in the 400 meters, improving his No. 4 mark in program history.
  • Will Haw competed in both the 800 meters (1:55.65) and 1500 meters (3:56.77).

INSIDE THE MEET – SPARTAN INVITE

FOR THE MEN

  • Northwood was led by freshman Caleb Walker, who captured first place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.07. The mark ranks No. 39 in NCAA Division II this season and stands as a personal best. This is now No. 6 in program history.
  • Walker also added a personal best of 11.33 in the 100 meters, while fellow freshman Max Danley posted a personal best of 56.92 in the 400-meter hurdles to place sixth.
  • Senior Arthur Powell IV led the sprint group with a seventh-place finish in the 200 meters (22.33) and a ninth-place finish in the 100 meters (11.16). Junior Andrew Braman followed with times of 11.23 (100m) and 22.44 (200m).
  • Reagan Page is now No. 2 in Northwood history, clearing 4.30m in the pole vault.

FOR THE WOMEN

  • Erica Klee led the distance group with a personal best of 5:19.70 in the 1500 meters, placing sixth overall.
  • Senior Riley Hacker recorded a season-best 19:04.17 in the 5000 meters, while Danica Aldrich posted a personal best of 20:09.59.
  • Nava Sanocki turned in a personal best and team best of 27.08 in the 200 meters and added a 1:03.22 performance in the 400 meters. Senior Vivian Williams recorded times of 13.57 (100m) and 27.71 (200m), while junior Brooklyn Wolcott ran 1:01.63 in the 400 meters.

INSIDE THE MEET – GOLDEN GRIZZLIES INVITE

FOR THE MEN

  • Lucus Schumaker placed third in the hammer throw with a mark of 50.83m.
  • Junior Kyle Roeters added a third-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 43.92m.

UP NEXT

  • Track & Field continues its outdoor season next weekend with a split-squad slate. The Timberwolves will compete at the Fast Break Invitational (April 10–11) hosted by Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn., while another group travels to the Chippewa Challenge on April 11, hosted by Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
