Vier Captures Second G-MAC Track Athlete Of The Week Honor Of The Season
MIDLAND, MICH. – Northwood Track & Field standout Blake Vier has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced today (April 6). This is Vier's second weekly honor this outdoor season.
Vier earned the honor following a great weekend at the Texas Relays (April 2) and Bobcat Invitational (April 4) down in the Lone Star State. At Texas, he ran a wind-aided 10.57 in the 100 meters, ranking No. 32 nationally in NCAA Division II, and posted a 13.86 in the 110-meter hurdles prelims.
He capped the trip with a first-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles at the Bobcat Invitational, clocking a program-record 13.72 to improve his own school mark and nation-leading NCAA DII time.
Vier and Northwood Track & Field head to a few different meets this weekend. The Timberwolves will compete at the Fast Break Invitational (April 10–11) hosted by Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn., and at the Al Owens Classic at Grand Valley St. (April 10-11), as well as the Chippewa Challenge on April 11, hosted by Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
