Track & Field Makes Moves At Three Meets This Week
OVERVIEW – AL & SUE OWENS CLASSIC / LEE FAST BREAK INVITATIONAL / CHIPPEWA CHALLENGE

RECAP: RECAP: The Northwood University men's and women's track & field teams competed across three meets over the weekend, beginning at the GVSU Al & Sue Owens Classic (April 10–11) in Allendale, Mich., while additional groups traveled to the Lee Fast Break Invitational (April 10–11) in Cleveland, Tenn., and the CMU Chippewa meet (April 11) in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
INSIDE THE MEET – AL & SUE OWENS CLASSIC
FOR THE MEN
- Blake Vier led Northwood with a first-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking 13.84 after a 13.80 qualifying time in the prelims, both times clearing the NCAA provisional mark.
- The 4x100-meter relay team of Diogo Vaz, Arthur Powell IV, Andrew Braman, and Vier placed second with a time of 40.77, ranking No. 29 in NCAA Division II this season. The mark is just off the program record of 40.35.
- The 4x400-meter relay team of Noah Retford, Caleb Walker, Adam Johnson, and Vaz claimed first place in 3:18.86, a season-best that ranks No. 65 nationally.
- Arthur Powell IV turned in a strong showing in the 100m dash, placing fourth and running 10.75 in the finals after a 10.77 qualifying time.
- In the 400-meter hurdles, freshmen Caleb Walker (54.94) and Noah Retford (55.16) placed third and fourth, respectively, with Max Danley adding a 57.20 performance.
- In the field events, Luke Eros recorded marks of 59.43m in the hammer throw and 46.98m in the discus. Omari Hairston posted a throw of 16.28m in the invitational shot put, while Lucus Schumaker registered a personal-best 56.48m in the hammer, ranking No. 39 in NCAA Division II this season.
FOR THE WOMEN
- Breanna Hyde highlighted the meet with a runner-up finish in the long jump, recording a mark of 5.67m, ranking No. 44 in NCAA Division II this season. She also posted a personal-best 15.93 in the 100-meter hurdles and added a mark of 10.84m in the triple jump. She is now fourth on Northwood all-time 110m hurdle list.
- On the track, Nava Sanocki recorded a season-best 1:02.21 in the 400m, while Brooklyn Wolcott posted a personal-best 2:26.16 in the 800m.
- The 4x100-meter relay team of Keiyera Johnson, Sanocki, Vivian Williams, and Dannyka Johnson finished in 50.42.
INSIDE THE MEET – LEE FAST BREAK INVITATIONAL
FOR THE MEN
- Parker Strelecki led the distance group with a personal-best 1:52.08 in the 800m, ranking No. 56 in NCAA Division II this season. His PR is No. 8 in program history.
- Caleb Palmreuter added a personal-best 3:52.38 in the 1500m, ranking No. 76 nationally, and also ran 1:54.90 in the 800m. He is now No. 7 in program history.
- Matt Grindrod recorded a personal-best 14:47.18 in the 5000m, while Sam Smith (15:16.04) and Keegan Masters (15: 24.70) added solid performances. Grindrod ran himself into the No. 5 spot in program history.
FOR THE WOMEN
- Kaylee Locke posted a season-best 2:21.81 in the 800m.

- Lucus Schumaker placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 54.28m.
FOR THE WOMEN
- Riley Hacker led the distance group in the 3000m with a time of 11:11.51. Kaylee Aultman (11:32.37) and Erica Klee (11:39.78) also competed in the event.
- In the 1500m, Danica Aldrich (5:13.50) and Landry Koski (5:14.75) represented Northwood.
- Miyanna King competed in both throwing events, recording marks of 38.05m in the hammer and 26.39m in the discus.
