Track & Field Tunes Up For G-MAC Championships With Strong Showing At GVSU Extra Weekend Meet

OVERVIEW – GVSU EXTRA WEEKEND MEET

LOCATION: Grand Valley State – Allendale, Mich.

RECAP: The Northwood University men's and women's track & field teams competed at the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet (April 24–25) in Allendale, Mich., using the meet as a final tune-up ahead of postseason action.

FOR THE MEN

  • Owen Hager led the hurdle group with a runner-up finish in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking 14.61 PR to rank No. 66 in NCAA Division II this season.
  • Northwood's sprint group turned in a strong set of performances in the 200m, led by Diogo Vaz, who posted a personal-best 21.37, ranking No. 86 nationally and establishing the No. 4 mark in program history. Arthur Powell IV (21.52), Chase Burston (21.90), and Adam Johnson (21.98) all recorded personal-best efforts, while Jamison Latham added a season-best 23.44. Powell IV is now No. 5 in program history with his big PR.
  • In the 400-meter hurdles, freshman Caleb Walker placed third with a personal-best 53.91, ranking No. 73 in NCAA Division II. Noah Retford followed in 55.13, while Max Danley added a personal-best 55.99. Walker's mark pushes him up to No. 5 in program history.
  • In the middle-distance events, Will Haw ran a season-best 1:55.18 in the 800m. In the 1500m, Caleb Palmreuter led the group with a 3:55.92, while Nolan Longuski posted a personal-best 3:58.93.
  • In the field events, Andrew Lake placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 13.50m. Reagan Page cleared a season-best 4.31m in the pole vault, while Kyle Roeters recorded a 45.93m throw in the javelin.
  • In the throws, Luke Eros highlighted the weekend with a season-best 51.78m in the discus and a 61.29m mark in the hammer. Ty Ellis added a personal-best 51.74m in the discus, while Max Stoecker (46.51m) and Omari Hairston (46.17m) also competed.
  • Lucus Schumaker placed third in the hammer throw (55.06m), while Ellis (49.13m), Maxwell Bernard (44.97m), and TJ Rapson (43.75m) rounded out the group.
  • In the shot put, Stoecker recorded 16.54m in the invitational section, followed by Hairston at 16.41m. Bernard added a 14.49m mark in the open section.
