Timberwolves Finish Fourth, Ninth at 2026 G-MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships
OVERVIEW – 2026 G-MAC OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
LOCATION: Hillsdale – Hillsdale, Mich.
RECAP: Northwood Track & Field competed at the 2026 G-MAC Outdoor Championships. Tiffin captured the men's team title with 186.66 points, followed by Ashland (163) and Findlay (116). Northwood finished fourth overall with 97 points. On the women's side, Hillsdale claimed the championship with 219.5 points, narrowly edging Ashland (214), with Findlay in third (134). Northwood placed ninth overall with 18 points.

INSIDE THE MEET
FOR THE MEN
- Northwood's men scored 97 points at the G-MAC Outdoor Championships to finish fourth overall, producing points in 15 different events. The Timberwolves were led by the throws group with 12 points in the discus, followed by 11 points in both the 100m and 110m hurdles. Northwood also added 9 points in the shot put and eight in the javelin, while scoring six in the 400m hurdles, 1500m, triple jump, and the 4x100m relay, and five in the 4x400m relay. Additional scoring came with five in the 3000m steeplechase and hammer throw, three in the 800m and 10K, and one in the 400m.
- Blake Vier anchored the Timberwolves' sprint and hurdle success, finishing with silver in the 110m hurdles (13.78) and bronze in the 100m (10.58) to headline Northwood's point scorers on the track. Owen Hager added a sixth-place finish in the 110 hurdles (14.55 PR) to contribute valuable points in the event.
- Caleb Walker rewrote the Northwood record books, adding a podium finish in the 400m hurdles, placing third in 52.22. As a freshman, his mark breaks Northwood's 42-year-old record set by Steve Loria (52.27) in 1983.
- In the throws, Northwood earned major scoring production. Kyle Roeters placed second in the javelin with a mark of 49.82m, while Ty Ellis added a runner-up finish in the discus (49.80m). Luke Eros was a key multi-event scorer, taking fifth in the discus (48.98m) and fourth in the hammer throw (59.21m).
- The Timberwolves also delivered in the sprints, with Andrew Braman (sixth - 10.64) and Arthur Powell IV (seventh - 10.65) both scoring in the 100m.
- In distance events, Caleb Palmreuter continued his strong championship form with a third-place finish in the 1500m (3:53.10), while Matt Grindrod placed fourth in the 3000m steeplechase (9:19.72). Will Haw (sixth - 800m) and Parker Strelecki (eighth - 800m).
- Northwood also picked up relay points, highlighted by a third-place finish in the 4x100 relay (41.01) and a fourth-place finish in the 4x400 relay (3:16.47).
- Andrew Lake added a podium finish in the triple jump, taking third (14.44m), while Sam Smith scored in the 10K with a sixth-place finish (30:50.76).
FOR THE WOMEN
- Northwood's women scored 18 points to finish ninth overall, recording team points in six different events. The Timberwolves were led by four points each in the 800m, 3000m steeplechase, and javelin throw. Northwood also added three points in the long jump, along with relay scoring in both the 4x400 relay (two points) and 4x100m relay (one point) to round out the team total.
- Kaylee Locke led the way on the track with a fifth-place finish in the 800m (2:14.03), while Landry Koski added a strong fifth-place performance in the 3000m steeplechase (11:27.10).
- In the field, Allie Moffit delivered a top-five finish in the javelin (fifth - 32.52m), and Breanna Hyde added a sixth-place mark in the long jump (5.46m).
- The Timberwolves also scored in both relays, finishing eighth in the 4x100m (49.32) and seventh in the 4x400m (3:58.42) to round out their team total.

- Northwood Track & Field continues its postseason push with a trio of meets scheduled for next week. The Timberwolves open competition on Wednesday (May 6) at the Hillsdale Last Chance. Action continues on Thursday (May 7) at the Harrison Dillard Twilight hosted by Baldwin Wallace before Northwood closes the week on Sunday (May 10) at the GVSU Last Day Meet in Allendale.
