Vier Named G-MAC Track Athlete of the Year; Timberwolves Track & Field Earns Three All-Conference Honors

MIDLAND, MICH. — The Northwood University men's track & field team earned three postseason honors from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) following the 2026 Outdoor Track & Field Championships, highlighted by redshirt junior hurdler Blake Vier being named the G-MAC Men's Track Athlete of the Year.

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced its 2026 Men's Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference teams and postseason awards following the conclusion of the championship meet, hosted by Hillsdale College (April 28-May 1).

ALL-CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM

Vier anchored Northwood's postseason success in the hurdles, earning the conference's top track honor after a dominant season in the 110-meter hurdles. He also collected First Team All-Conference recognition in the event after capturing the G-MAC title.

Vier carried his momentum onto the national stage at the NCAA Division II Championships (May 21-23), entering the event tied for No. 2 nationally. He won his preliminary heat in 14.08 before delivering a 13.82 performance in the final to place third overall, earning First Team All-America honors. His finish scored six team points for Northwood and marked the program's first 110m hurdles All-American since 2017.

ALL-CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM

Northwood also saw strong performances in the field events, with freshman Ty Ellis and junior Kyle Roeters each earning Second Team All-G-MAC honors.

Ellis continued a standout freshman campaign in the discus, placing second at the conference championships with a mark of 49.80 meters. Roeters also finished runner-up in the javelin, recording a throw of 49.82 meters to secure his All-Conference recognition.

CONFERENCE NOTES

The Tiffin Dragons captured the 2026 G-MAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship, while the Hillsdale Chargers took home the Women's team crown. Additional major award winners included:

  • Men's Field Athlete of the Year: Alan De Falchi, Lake Erie
  • Women's Field Athlete of the Year: Molly Winner, Ashland
  • Men's Freshman of the Year: Dom Scharer, Hillsdale
  • Women's Freshman of the Year: Sofia Boonzaaijer, Hillsdale
  • Men's Coach of the Year: Mark Del Monaco, Tiffin
  • Women's Coach of the Year: Jessica Bridenthal, Hillsdale
  • Men's Elite 26 Award Winner: Justin Hattingh, Findlay
  • Women's elite 26 Award Winner: Kayla Kephart, Ursuline
