Bio
Lacy joined the Northwood University coaching staff in fall 2022 as an Assistant Coach for the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field programs. In September 2023, he was promoted to Head Coach of the Timberwolves’ men’s and women’s cross country teams.
In his first season with Northwood, Lacy helped guide the men’s cross country team to a historic milestone—qualifying for the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships for the first time in program history, where they placed 25th. On the women’s side, he assisted the squad to its best conference finish since 2008, earning sixth place at the 2022 Great Midwest Cross Country Championships.
Before arriving in Midland, Lacy spent three seasons (2019–22) at Grand Rapids Community College, where he served two years as an assistant coach before being elevated to Head Coach of the men’s cross country program. He played a pivotal role in rebuilding the Raiders’ roster from just three runners in 2019 to 16 by the 2021 campaign. Under his leadership, GRCC posted two top-10 national team finishes at the NJCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships, highlighted by a seventh-place finish in 2021. That same year, the Raiders also captured their first-ever Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) team championship.
During his time at GRCC, Lacy coached three NJCAA Division II All-Americans, two NJCAA Region XII Runners of the Year, and two individual conference champions.
A standout student-athlete at Alma College (Mich.), Lacy was a four-time Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) All-Conference performer in cross country and the 2010 MIAA champion in the 10,000m. He earned NCAA Division III All-Region honors in 2012 and still ranks second all-time in Alma history in the cross country 8k (25:01) and outdoor 10k (31:29). He also continues to hold the school record in the outdoor 3,000m (8:50).
