Women's Basketball Earns 82-49 Victory Over Chaminade
The Northwood University women's basketball team evened its record at 2-2 with an 82-49 win over Chaminade Friday night (November 23).
Chaminade falls to 0-3 with the loss.
Northwood jumped out to a 10 point lead in the opening seven minutes and never looked back. The Timberwolves 41-22 lead at halftime was their biggest of the opening half. Northwood shot 45.7 percent from the floor in the half (16-35) while holding the Silverswords to 17.1 percent (6-35).
The Timberwolves maintained control in the second half as well, not allowing Chaminade to get any closer than 17 in the final 20 minutes. Northwood led by as many as 35 before earning the victory by 33.
For the game, Northwood shot 42.3 percent from the floor (30-71). The Timberwolves went 6-22 from 3-point range (27.3 percent) and 16-27 from the foul line (59.3 percent). The Silverswords finished at 22.1 percent (15-68) overall, 6-28 from 3-point range (21.4 percent) and 13-18 from the foul line (72.2 percent). Northwood also finished the game with big advantages in points in the paint (44-14), points off turnovers (22-11), second chance points (16-7), fast break points (10-2) and bench points (42-17).
Three Timberwolves finished in double figures in the game, led by freshman Laurn Robak (Waterford, Mich./Our Lady of the Lakes). She had 15 points and six steals. Rachel Church (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creek) added 12 points on four 3-pointers. Aleigha Wylie (Hemlock, Mich./Midland) finished with 10 points and five rebounds.
Northwood will travel to Hillsdale Thursday (November 29). Game time is set for 8 p.m.
