Women's Basketball Ends Season With 76-54 Win Over SVSU

The Northwood University women's basketball team finished its season with an impressive 76-54 victory over rival Saginaw Valley State Saturday night (February 2).

The Timberwolves finish the season 12-16 overall, 10-12 in the GLIAC.  SVSU stands at 13-13 overall, 11-11 in the GLIAC.

Northwood scored 12 of the first 15 points of the game to take control early.  The Timberwolves 37-23 lead at halftime matched their biggest lead of the first half.  NU connected on 45.2 percent from the floor (14-31) and 50.0 percent from 3-point range (4-8).  SVSU shot 34.8 percent (8-23) in the opening 20 minutes.

The Cardinals got no closer than nine points in the second half as the Timberwolves maintained control.  NU led by as many as 23.

For the game, Northwood finished at 44.8 percent from the floor (26-58).  NU also connected on 19-23 from the foul line (82.6 percent).  SVSU was 19-49 overall from the floor (38.8 percent).  Northwood had big advantages in points off turnovers (19-5), second chance points (14-7) and fast break points (11-0).

Four Timberwolves finished in double figures, led by Gabrielle Rivette (Fenton, Mich.).  She had 17 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals.  Rachel Church (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creek) ended her career with 16 points, while Lauren Robak (Clarkston, Mich./Our Lady of the Lakes) and Jordyn Nurenberg (St. John's, Mich.) added 12 and 10, respectively.
