Women's Basketball Places Fifth On The WBCA Academic Top-25

ATLANTA, GA. - The Northwood University women's basketball team was placed on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Tuesday (August 2).

Northwood had its highest team grade point average and its highest finish in the top 25 in program history this year. The Timberwolves ended the year with a 3.672 GPA, which was good for a tie for fifth place out of over 280 Division II schools. Upper Iowa led D-II with a 3.731 GPA. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) was well represented on the list, as six teams from the conference were honored (Ohio Dominican, Findlay, Michigan Tech, Ashland, Lake Erie).

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III; NAIA and junior/community college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2015-16 season is the 21st in which the WBCA as compiled the honor rolls.
