Maeve St. John Named Great Midwest Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week
MIDLAND, MICH. - Maeve St. John, a junior guard on the Northwood University women's basketball team, has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Athlete of the Week, the league announced Monday (December 9).
It marks the first time in her career that St. John has earned the honor from the G-MAC.
St. John led Northwood to an upset 69-58 victory over No. 10 Ashland, finishing with 24 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. She went 3-6 from 3-point range and 5-5 from the foul line against the Eagles. St. John set the tone for the game right away, scoring 11 points in the first quarter and 18 points in the first half. In the second half, St. John stepped up the other parts of her game, finishing with six points, five rebounds and four assists. Ashland had won 44 consecutive G-MAC games entering the contest and had a 61-1 G-MAC record in program history prior to Northwood's win.
Northwood will travel to Cedarville Saturday (December 14). Game time is set for 1 p.m.
