RECAP: Northwood Women's Basketball wins a battle of conference unbeatens, defeating Walsh 76-62 Saturday night (January 3).

GAME STORY

  • After Walsh scored the first two points of the game, Northwood put up 10 straight points for a 10-2 lead 2:40 into the contest.
  • That eight-point lead proved to the be the largest of the opening half, as Walsh responded with eight straight points of their own to tie the game.
  • Northwood scored the final five points of the first to take a 17-16 lead after one.
  • The game stayed close throughout the second quarter as well - Northwood's 39-34 lead at halftime matched the largest lead of the quarter.
  • Walsh came out fast in the second half, scoring the first seven points of the third quarter to take a 41-39 lead.
  • While the score remained close the remainder of the third, that lead proved to be the final advantage of the game for Walsh. The margin stayed with three the rest of the period, which ended with Northwood on top 50-49.
  • Northwood led 54-53 with 6:15 to go when the Timberwolves took control. NU posted 18 of the next 24 points to go up 72-59.
  • NU's 14-point lead at the end of the game was the largest of the contest.

With Northwood's win today to go along with Malone's 61-54 loss at Hillsdale, the Timberwolves are the lone undefeated team in the G-MAC in conference play.
