Maeve St. John Named Midwest Region Player of the Year by the D2CCA - Lea Holmes Named All-Region
D2CCA ALL-MIDWEST REGION TEAMS
MIDLAND, MICH. – Maeve St. John and Lea Holmes from the Northwood University women's basketball team have earned All-Midwest Region honors from the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA).
Athletic Communication staff members from around the Midwest Region voted on the teams, which were announced Thursday (March 12).
St. John earned Midwest Region Player of the Year as well as First Team All-Midwest honors. Holmes was named Second Team All-Midwest.
Northwood is the lone school in the region to place two players on the All-Midwest teams.
St. John is the first women's basketball player in program history to earn a regional Player of the Year award. She recently also became the first conference Player of the Year, as she was recently named the G-MAC Player of the Year. St. John currently is averaging 18.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.65steals per game. She has set numerous school records during the year, including points in a season (575), free throws made in a season (168), steals in a season (110) and steals in a career (289). A four-time G-MAC Player of the Week this season, St. John has scored at least 32 points five times in 2025-26. St. John current ranks in the top-10 nationally in steals, steals per game, free throws made and free throw percentage (88.9).
Holmes, a two-time First Team All-Great Midwest honoree, recently was named the G-MAC Tournament MVP. In the event, she averaged 22.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game in Northwood's three wins. Holmes shot 61.9 percent from the floor (26-42) and 93.8 percent from the foul line (15-16). For the season, she is averaging 17.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting 57.5 percent from the floor. She has set a Northwood school records for field goals made in a season (225) and blocked shots in a career (127).
Northwood (26-5) has set school-records for wins in a season, conference wins in a season (19) and longest winning streak (16) heading into the NCAA Tournament. The third-seeded Timberwolves will face No. 6 seed Malone (25-6) in the opening round Friday (March 13). Game time is set for Noon.
