The 2016-17 season will be the 10th for Darcie Roberts with the Northwood University women’s basketball team. After spending her first five seasons as an assistant coach, she was promoted to Associate Head Coach in the summer of 2012.
Roberts works extensively with the Northwood post players. She worked with Jordyn Nurenberg in the 2015-16 season. Nurenberg earned First Team All-GLIAC honors and led Division II in double-doubles (22).
She has been a major part of the most successful run in program history. The Timberwolves won the GLIAC North Division Title and reached the the conference tournament for the first time in school history in 2007-08. NU then set a school record for wins in a season (21) and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history during the 2008-09 season. Since her arrival, Northwood has a record of 121-99 (.550).
Roberts came to Northwood after serving as a student assistant coach at Alma College, where she played the final two seasons of her collegiate career. As a senior, Roberts averaged 15.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game en route to First Team All-MIAA honors. She ranked seventh in Division III by shooting 61.3 percent from the floor. Roberts was named the MVP of both the Nan Nicols and the Bethany Holiday Tournaments.
Prior to her time at Alma, Roberts played at Ferris State University. She played parts of three seasons for the Bulldogs, seeing action in 60 games.
Roberts is a 2007 graduate of Alma College with a degree in Sociology. She married her husband Ryan, in the summer of 2007. The couple resides in Midland and they have two children: Ian and Taryn.
