Bio
Courtney Shelton is the newest member of the Northwood University women's basketball coaching staff. The 2016-17 season will be her first at Northwood. Shelton works with the NU backcourt players.
Shelton spent the previous two seasons as the video coordinator at Central Michigan University. During her time at CMU, the Chippewas won the Mid-American Conference West Division title and reached the WNIT.
A four-year letterwinner and three-year starter at Northern Illinois University, Shelton was a two-year captain for the Huskies. As a senior, Shelton was named Team MVP when she led the team in 3-point field goals (45) and assists (115). She scored a career-high 29 points versus Western Michigan during the 2010-11 season. For her career, Shelton played in 102 games and currently stands in ninth place on the NIU career 3-point list (108). She was also a standout in the classroom as well, maintaining a GPA above 3.0 all four years.
Prior to joining the CMU staff, Shelton served as an assistant coach at Hononegah High School in Rockton, Illinois. Shelton was also a standout player at Hononegah, where she was named the Most Valuable Player in the NIC-10 conference.
Shelton graduated from Northern Illinois in 2012 with a degree in Communication.
