Women's Golf Places Fifth At GLIAC Championship

NEW ALBANY, OHIO – The Northwood University women's golf team placed fifth out of 10 teams at the GLIAC Championship Sunday afternoon (April 27).

The three-day, 54-hole event was hosted by Ohio Dominican at the Winding Hollow Golf Club. The course played as a 5,880 yard par 72.

Northwood carded team scores of 341, 328 and 335 to finish at 1,004 overall. Grand Valley State was the overall winner at 943, followed by Ferris State at 976 and Findlay at 979.

Leading the way for Northwood was junior Emily Vergin (Milford, Mich.). She shot 81-81-85 to finish at 247 overall, good for a tie for 14th overall. Vergin registered a hole-in-one on the 135 yard par three fifth hole during Saturday's round. It is believed to be the first hole in one in history of the women's golf program at Northwood. Amee Cox (Liverpool, England) finished 18th overall at 251 (89-78-84). A total of 50 players competed at the event.
