Women's Lacrosse Earns First Win In Program History With 20-9 Victory Over SVSU

RECAP: Northwood Women's Lacrosse earned the first win in program history Thursday afternoon (February 27), defeating Saginaw Valley 20-9.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Montana Chuba put the first home goal on the board in program history 1:02 into the game.
- After SVSU netted two straight to go up 2-1, Chuba scored three more goals before the end of the first. That made the score 5-2 after one.
- The two teams exchanged goals at the start of the second, with Northwood's coming from Sam Peterson that put the Timberwolves on top 6-3.
- NU outscored the Cardinals 3-2 the rest of the way in the second with the Northwood goals coming from Chuba, Gabby Wilson and Peterson to send the game to the break at 9-5.
- Northwood took control of the game in the third quarter, putting up eight of the first nine goals to break things open. NU had great scoring balance in the quarter, as six different players found the back of the net. Wilson (2), Chuba, Taylor Murrell, Emma Volpe (2), Cece Gibson, and Peterson scored for the Timberwolves in the third, sending the game to the final period with NU on top 17-7.
- Krissy Werker, Gibson and Murrell scored in the final period for Northwood to close out the victory.
