Women's Lacrosse Defeats Ursuline 23-5

RECAP: Northwood women's lacrosse wrapped up conference play with a 23-5win over Ursuline Monday afternoon (April 21).

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwood set the tone for the game right away, scoring the first four goals of the game in the opening 5:33. NU eventually led 8-2 after one quarter, thanks to two goals each from Taylor Murrell, Sam Peterson, Alyssa Carnes and Emma Volpe.
  • The Timberwolves maintained control in the second quarter, scoring all six goals of the period to go up 14-2 at the break. Montana Chuba netted three goals in the quarter, while Carnes, Murrell and Peterson each added one.
  • Ursuline played better in the third, scoring two straight goals to get within 11 at 15-4. NU finished the quarter with a pair to send the game to the fourth with Northwood on top 17-4. Peterson scored a pair and Murrell added her fourth of the day in the third for NU.
  • Northwood maintained control in the final quarter, scoring the first four goals and six of seven overall to make the final 23-5. Chuba, Carnes and Volpe added to their totals in the fourth. Ruby Verlinden, Zoe Wynn and Mariessa Zarazua all scored the first goals of the day in the final quarter. For Wynn and Zarazua, it was their first goals of the season. It was Verlinden's second goal of the year.
