The Northwood University women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 match to No. 1 Grand Valley State Sunday afternoon (September 23).
Northwood falls to 2-5 overall, 2-2 in the GLIAC. GVSU improves to 7-0-2 overall, 3-0-1 in the GLIAC.
The Lakers netted a pair of goals in the opening 24 minutes to take a 2-0 lead to halftime. GVSU out-shot the Timberwolves 12-3 in the opening half.
Grand Valley State netted the final goal of the game in the 52nd minute.
For the match, GVSU held a 25-5 edge in shots and a 14-1 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman keeper Julie Shields (Berkley, Mich.) made 10 saves in the loss.
Northwood will travel to Ohio Dominica Friday night (September 28). Match time is set for 7 p.m.
