Women's Soccer Falls 2-1 In Double Overtime At Ferris State

The Northwood Timberwolves women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 2-1 overtime contest at Ferris State Friday afternoon (September 21).

Northwood is now 2-4 overall, 2-1 in the GLIAC. Ferris State improves to 3-3-1 overall, 2-1 in the GLIAC.

The first half was evenly played and went to the break scoreless. Both teams had six shots in the opening 45 minutes.

Ferris State got the scoring going in the second half in the 58th minute. The score remained that way until the 84th minute, when senior Amanda Watson (Oregon, Ohio/Clay) added to her record-breaking career. She netted her sixth goal of the season, which was also the 50th of her career. Freshman Jessica Langer (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) picked up the assist on the goal, which evened the score with less than six minutes remaining.

The score remained 1-1 until the final minutes of double overtime. FSU scored a goal with 3:31 remaining in the game to earn the win.

For the match, FSU finished with a 22-17 edge in shots. The Bulldogs also had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. Keeper Rebecca Lipinski (Shelby Twp., Mich./Eisenhower) made nine saves in the match.

Northwood travels to Grand Valley State Sunday afternoon (September 23). Match time is set for 1 p.m.
