The Northwood University women's soccer team played Ohio Dominican to a 0-0 draw Friday night (September 28).
Northwood is now 2-5-1 overall, 2-2-1 in the GLIAC. Ohio Dominican stands at 4-3-2 overall, 1-2-2 in the GLIAC.
The opening half was evenly played. The Panthers finished with a 6-5 edge in shots for the opening 45 minutes, while the Timberwolves had a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal.
ODU controlled the play for the rest of the match. Over the second half and the two overtime periods, Ohio Dominican out-shot Northwood 17-3. . But freshman keeper Julie Shields (Berkley, Mich.) was up to the challenge. She made 14 saves in the match, including 11 in the second half and overtime for her second career clean sheet.
For the match, Ohio Dominican finished with a 23-8 advantage in shots. The Panthers also held an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
Northwood will travel to Ashland Sunday (September 30). Match time is set for 1 p.m.
