Moving On - Women's Soccer Earns 3-0 Win Over Malone To Advance To G-MAC Semifinals

RECAP: Northwood women's soccer hosted Malone in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday (November 9). The Timberwolves put up three in the second half on their way to earning a 3-0 shutout of the six-seeded Pioneers.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • The first half didn't feature any scores, as the Timberwolves had a slight edge in shots (4-3) and corners (3-2).
  • The Timberwolves' offense was tamed in the first half offensively, having just four shots.  Northwood previously put up 21 shots in the team's only other meeting with the Pioneers on October 26.
  • Northwood's offense got going in the second half. In the 52', Northwood generated a penalty via a Pioneer handball in the box. Ashtyn Lange would score it to give NU the 1-0 advantage.
  • The offense kept the pressure, just over a minute later, Brooke Honeycutt scored a near-sliding kick around two Pioneer defenders from the top of the 18-yard box to the upper left corner, 2-0 NU. Lange's feed from right to left gave Honeycutt the window to score.
  • Up 2-0, the Timberwolves were in control in the 77'. Lange intercepted a ball before passing it back into the middle for Carly Boyd to tag the third goal from 25 yards out, 3-0 NU.
  • Northwood held on to the 3-0 lead till the very end. The shutout marks the 13th for the career of Lindsay Jacob and what is now the program record.
