GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • The first half was played mostly on the sidelines, featuring 44 throw-ins before either team generated a true chance. Northwood finally broke through in the 32' when Claire Gonyea found Ella Boyd on the left side of the box, who crossed it to Mari Jackson for the finish. Jackson has now scored in back-to-back matches.
  • Northwood carried a 1-0 lead into halftime, holding a 6-1 edge in shots and a 2-0 advantage in corners.
  • The Timberwolves pushed to extend their lead early in the second half. Carly Boyd opened the half with a shot on target in the 47', but MTU's keeper made the save. Northwood kept up the pressure between the 55' and the 57' mark, firing four shots on goal and earning four corners, but came up empty as the keeper turned away each attempt.
  • In the 82', Carly Boyd delivered a long cross from the far side that Ashtyn Lange redirected past the outstretched keeper to make it 2-0 Northwood, putting the match away. Boyd's cross moves her into sole possession of No. 6 on NU's all-time scoring list with 67 career points.
