Women's Soccer Earns 2-0 Win Over Thomas More

RECAP: Women's Soccer opened and finished the weekend with a 2-0 win over Thomas More Saturday (September 27). The chippy matchup showed Northwood's grit to finish out the game.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• Northwood and Thomas More battled evenly in the opening minutes, with both teams generating early opportunities.
• The first half saw opportunities both ways, but both came up empty. Northwood earned six corners in the first half, but Thomas More held the 8-6 shot advantage. This would ultimately lead to a scoreless first half.
• The second half saw Northwood break through in the 62'. Carly Boyd scored off an assist from Ella Boyd, giving the Timberwolves a 1-0 lead. Ella's through ball down the middle gave Carly the one-on-one to score in the right post. This gives Carly 20 career goals and 71 career points. She is the fifth player in program history to cross the 70 career point threshold.
• The Timberwolves held strong on defense before the offense could put the game away in the 86'. Claire Gonyea added a second goal for Northwood, intercepting a fumble pass in the box to extend the lead to 2-0. This was Gonyea's first career goal.
•  The Timberwolves' defense held firm in the final minutes, with goalie Lindsay Jacob making key saves to preserve the shutout. This marks her program record 30^th career win and 18^th clean sheet.
