RECAP: Northwood women's soccer wrapped up the regular season with a 4-1 road loss to No. 13 Ashland Tuesday night (November 4). Ella Boyd scored the lone goal for the Timberwolves in the first half before the Eagles capitalized on Northwood miscues to pull away.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
-
Ashland opened the scoring in the 21' with a penalty called at the very corner of the 18-yard box. The Eagles converted to take a 1-0 lead.
-
Northwood responded just over three minutes later. Ella Boyd finished a low shot to the center of the goal at 23:41, following a ping-pong buildup that started with Carly Boyd's free kick into the box from midfield, leveling the score at 1-1.
-
The teams went into halftime tied at 1-1 after a physical, evenly contested first half, with both sides recording two shots on target.
-
The second half quickly tilted in Ashland's favor. Just 27 seconds in, a cross into the front of the goal was misplayed by Northwood's defense, hitting the crossbar and deflecting in for an own goal, giving Ashland a 2-1 lead.
-
Shortly after, Northwood's defense again faltered, allowing an Eagle to break free and extend the lead to 3-1.
-
In the 67'', Ashland struck a third time in the second half to push the advantage to 4-1.
-
Behind a dominant second-half performance, the Eagles secured a 4-1 victory over the Timberwolves.
