Women's Tennis Earns GLIAC Championship With Win At Lake Superior State
The Northwood University women's tennis team claimed the outright GLIAC Championships Sunday afternoon (October 21), defeating Lake Superior State 8-1.
The Championship is the ninth in the last 10 years for the Timberwolves.
Northwood is now 14-0 overall and in the GLIAC. LSSU falls to 10-9 overall, 6-8 in the GLIAC.
The Timberwolves dominated the doubles action, winning all three matches while dropping a total of just four games. NU finishes GLIAC regular season play with a 40-2 record in doubles action, good for a .952 winning percentage.
Northwood continued their strong play in singles, winning five of the six matches overall. All five Northwood victories came in straight sets. The Timberwolves went 72-12 (.857) in GLIAC singles play this season.
The Timberwolves will now play at the GLIAC Tournament this Friday-Sunday (October 26-28). NU, the top seed, will open the event with a match against eighth-seeded Ohio Dominican Friday at 5:45 p.m.
