Women's Tennis Loses To No. 2 Armstrong Atlantic In Sweet 16

The Northwood University women's tennis team ended its 2012-13 season with a 5-0 loss to No. 2 Armstrong Atlantic Wednesday afternoon (May 8) in the round of 16 at the NCAA Tournament.

Northwood finishes the year 21-2 overall. Armstrong improves to 27-1.

The Pirates got off to a fast start, winning two quick matches in doubles at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Northwood got out to a lead at the No. 3 slot, going up 5-3 at one point. But Armstrong responded to the deficit, winning five of the final six games to take a 3-0 lead into singles.

The Pirates then wrapped up the match with a pair of straight-set victories in singles. Armstrong won at No. 4 and No. 1 singles to complete the victory.
