Women's Tennis Earns 5-4 Road Win Over Grand Valley State
The Northwood University women's tennis team claimed an important 5-4 road win over Grand Valley State Wednesday afternoon (October 9).
The Timberwolves are now 11-0 overall and in the GLIAC. GVSU falls to 8-2 overall, 7-2 in the GLIAC.
Northwood earned two of three doubles matches to go up 2-1 heading into singles, thanks two wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.
In singles, it was the top of the Northwood lineup that came through for the Timberwolves. NU claimed the top three matches, all in straight sets. The Lakers earned straight set wins of their own at the bottom of the lineup, but after Northwood had already clinched the overall victory.
On the day, Darina Berkova, Nastya Puchkina and Anatassia Kazub each went 2-0 for the Timberwolves.
Northwood has three contests remaining in the quest for their third straight GLIAC Championship and their 10th in 11 years. They will travel to Ashland Friday (October 11) for a 3 p.m. match.
