Women's Tennis Earns GLIAC Championship With 8-1 Win Over Ohio Dominican

The Northwood University women's tennis team claimed the outright GLIAC Championship Sunday morning (October 13) with a 8-1 victory over Ohio Dominican.

The championship is Northwood's third straight and their 10th in the last 11 years.  The Timberwolves finish the regular season 14-0 overall and in the GLIAC.  Ohio Dominican finishes at 4-10 overall and in the GLIAC.

ODU was forced to play the match one player short, giving Northwood forfeit victories at the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles positions. 

The Timberwolves earned a pair of easy wins at the other two doubles positions, winning 8-2 at the No. 1 position and 8-3 at the No. 2 slot.  Northwood then went on to win four of the five singles matches played.

For the season, Northwood went 30-6 in doubles (.833) and 57-11 in singles (.838) in GLIAC play.

Northwood will now compete at the GLIAC Tournament October 25-27 at the Midland Community Tennis Center.
