Women's Tennis Downs Tiffin 5-2 In GLIAC Tournament Third Place Match
MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University women's tennis team earned a 5-2 win over Tiffin in the third place match at the GLIAC Tournament Sunday morning (October 26).
The tournament is taking place at the Midland Community Tennis Center. Northwood finishes the fall season 13-2 overall. Tiffin falls to 12-6 with the loss.
The Timberwolves came out with strong performances in doubles, winning at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions to go up 2-1 heading into singles. The teams of Alisa Reshetnikova/Anastasia Puchkina and Anastasiia Kazub/Oleisa Riabchuk picked up wins by the scores of 8-3 and 8-4, respectively.
It was the bottom of the Northwood lineup that came up big in singles, as the Timberwolves posted wins at four, five and six to clinch the match. Kazub, Margarita Asatryan and Maria Avksenenko all earned straight set wins for the Timberwolves.
Northwood will return to competition this spring.
