Women's Tennis Defeats Indianapolis 6-3

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University women's tennis team opened the spring portion of their schedule with a 6-3 regional win over Indianapolis Sunday morning (March 1).

Northwood improves to 14-2 overall with the win. Indianapolis falls to 3-4 with the loss.

The Timberwolves picked up a pair of wins at the bottom of doubles to head to singles with a 2-1 lead. Anna Aniskina and Margarita Asatryan won 8-3 at two doubles, while Anastasiia Kazub and Oleisa Riabchuk picked up a matching 8-3 victory at the No. 3 slot.

The bottom of the Northwood singles lineup came up big, as the Timberwolves won in straight-set at three through six singles. Riabchuk, Kazub, Aniskina and Asatryan all picked up their second win of the day in singles to finish 2-0 against the Greyhounds.

Northwood will begin its spring trip to South Carolina March 14 with a match against Edinboro. First serve is set for 9:30 a.m.
