Women's Tennis Defeats IUPUI 5-2
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Northwood University women's tennis team picked up a 5-2 win over IUPUI Friday afternoon (March 20).
Northwood improves to 17-2 with the win. IUPUI, a Division II school, falls to 6-6.
The teams played the match under Division I rules, where the three doubles matches are worth a total of one point. The Jaguars won the No. 2 and No. 3 matches, while the Northwood team of Alisa Reshetnikova and Anastasia Puchkina picked up a win at the No. 1 match. Thanks to winning two of the three doubles matches, IUPUI led 1-0 heading into singles.
Northwood was the better team in singles, winning five of the six matches. The Timberwolves won at the No. 2-6 slots in straight-sets, giving the Timberwolves the overall victory.
Puchkina led the way for Northwood on the day, going 2-0 for the Timberwolves.
Northwood has now completed their regular season.
