Women's Track Represented At NCAA Outdoor Championships

The Northwood University track and field teams sent a trio of seniors to Allendale, Mich. for the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships Thursday (May 22).

Madison Pines (Troy, Mich. / Troy) ran 4:33.91 in the 1,500 meter run finishing 10th in her heat and 17th overall. Miller entered Nationals with the 12th best time in the country at 4:30.87. The top 12 runners in the event advanced to the finals. Pines finishes her career after competing at the Division II National Championships six times in her career.

Later in the day, Kelsey Burgess (Byron Center, Mich. / Grand Rapids South Christian) ran 11:08.40 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. The first-time national qualifier finished seventh in her heat and 16th overall in the event. Burgess ran a qualifying time of 10:58.38 for an 18th seed entering the meet. The top 12 runners in the event advanced to the finals. Burgess leaves Northwood with the school record in the steeplechase.

Danielle Miller (Clinton Twp., Mich. / Fraser) finished her career with a 14th place finish in the 10,000 meter run. Clocking 36:01.91, Miller entered the race with a time of 35:12.03. A highly decorated Timberwolf, Miller closes her career as an All-American with multiple school records.
